If you don't already know, Gray-Definition Music Group is comprised of two labels. Gray Matters Recordings (Knowledge's) and Definition Records (mine)
Also, If don't already know, I should be dropping a new mixtape in about a month called "Gray-Def is my Mindstate"
I'm pretty excited about this one here and all the rest of the mixtapes that lead up to my debut album "Verbal Impressionism" because there is a purpose to each and every one of them. They each play a major role in a story and the way that they are structured allows listeners to start from the VERY beginning (The Perseverance Vol 1) and journey with me as I progress/mature as The Verbal Arteest and eventually as Ron.
Ok...a SUPER brief summarry of the backdrop behind the (inner monologue of the) first CD was that I, as an aspiring artist, wanted to make music and use music as a form of expression. I also wanted to no longer be on the shitty end of the stick as far as life is concerned...Music which is my motivation and driving force helped me to continue on and endure the hardships of life. So it helped me to persevere and so on and so forth...My collection of songs at that point in time eventually became a droplet of sweat combined with a tear drop in the for of "The Perseverance" (Horrible description I know but its 4 in the morning and I'm sleepy so shush)
Now with GDMM I plan on starting it as I do any of my CD's on a really high note (Thus shows my progression from the last CD because these first few songs show up the ENTIRE last mixtape). Then the story starts to move during track three where I actually get high off of my own music. The next 5 or so tracks is a result of me being "high" (IN THE STORY PEOPLE!) With the passing of each track I become a step closer to sobriety until I'm completely sober at the end of the 8th track.
**Side BAR** When drunk I often say things that I normally wouldn't when sober (I think everybody does)****
Now with that being said, during the 8th track I get all high and mighty and TALK some BIG SHIT about saving the world/hip-hop what have you...Now I have to try my darndest to keep my promise because I'm a man of my word. So I suit up my cape and turn into a hero (Hey, what can I say? I'm into comics *shoulder shrug*) and a track goes by and I realize the gravity of the situation that I have gotten myself into and how the bad guys are REALLY on some OD type ish...So my hero character turns dark and starts slaughtering cats for the rest of the CD aaaaaaaand on the last track I set the listener up for the next mixtape (which should be aaaaallmost done by the time I release this one)
there you have it Arteest followers...
I hope you enjoyed your sneak peak and are looking forward to Gray-Def is my Mind-State...
I appreciate all of the e-mails and YES I KNOW my bio section isn't working on my myspace...I'm trying to get help with that now....

YAY you finished!! I like that your Cd goes through stages. I think more people can relate that way.

wow son you really are goin hard with the concept shit. I'm proud. I like the idea for GDMM. But you gotta make it a little more obvious than you did with The Perseverance. Unless TP was mostly about life sucking in different ways, I missed something.
And I've listened to it more, it doesn't need much mastering except that Hurting Me More and Baybay Baybay are too quiet. The rest of the songs are on the same volume level. I reccommend going back and mastering the joint, it would give it an extra mic
